The Isuzu engines I am concerned about are the 1.5 and 1.7. |
1.5 & 1.5TD is fitted to the Vauxhall Corsa/Nova, 1.7D & 1.7TD is fitted to the Vauxhall Astra/Cavalier/Vectra. The Isuzu diesel is indirect injection which means the injector delivers fuel into a pre-combustion chamber, glow plugs are needed when starting an indirect injection diesel engine. The turbo diesel (TD) engine responds well to increased fuel and turbo boost pressure (these are inter-related), the injection pump has a boost en-richment device which increses fuel depending on boost pressure, increse the fuel = increse in boost pressure, standard the boost pressure is limited to 0.7 bar, with modifications 1.2 bar is achievable and safe/reliable.
